Rangi I by K4ll0 Rangi I by K4ll0
Rangi are famous for their ability to generate and control vast amounts of electricity. They’re hypercarnivores and the ultimate apex predators of their planet; they’re fast runners and dangerous both in short and long range. Their electric powers originally worked as a hunting tool; electric shocks were used for stunning their prey, though skilled rangi could use huge bursts of energy to kill even the larger animals. An average rangi can passively create and control enough electricity to knock an average-sized human out but not kill one.

The ability to harvest and control electricity has been a part of their culture for thousands of years so most of their rites and other cultural aspects revolve around it. Rangi take great pride in their powers, thus over the history they have created multiple ways and techniques to hone their skills. Most techniques aim for improved agility, physical strength and most of all, making their electric currents more powerful and easier to control.

Rangi are known to be quite hot-tempered and somewhat aggressive but they are incredibly serious about their powers and have strict laws to keep other species safe. Though other species have implemented their own planet-specific laws as well, which most rangi see as a sign of mistrust towards them and are generally not happy about it.

They don’t really like to use firearms or weapons made by other species. Rangi prefer the pure use of their own powers, but because of the strict laws, most rangi these days use specifically made weapons to harvest and focus the little energy they are allowed to use. Even though they are relatively short (1,5-1,6m) and lightweight compared to other species, they’re incredibly skilled fighters with fast reflexes and sharp claws, thus they’re formidable opponents even without their powers.

Rangi are not very good at interacting with other species. Their general stand-offish temperament and somewhat introverted society makes them difficult to approach, but the few rangi individuals with people skills are usually enough to keep the species-wide politics going and prevent most serious conflicts from happening.

Same universe as these guys:

I like the design.
I wonder, does their technology have power sources similar to their own biology? If I were inventing an engine and I already knew I could use electricity, that's where I would start.

I also wonder why none of your species seem to have clothes? Is it a design choice? Are clothes just to tedious to make? Do you just want to show off the anatomy? Or do none of them live in seasonal climates that may create a need for clothes and no parts of their anatomy that flop around while running or other activities.

What are the reproduction details (genders, gender roles, desirable traits, ritual, litter size)?

Thanks! Most of the rangi technology is based on their powers. Much like the humans discovery of fire these guys started to use electricity even without fully knowing how it worked. They're not exactly the most technologically advanced species out there, but they definitely know their power sources and how to make use of their powers.

 And they do wear clothes, I'm just doing these for anatomy purposes. I'll definitely give all of the species clothes or armor (or both) at some point.

They're somewhat similar to humans. Two genders, mostly monogamous, minimal amount of offspring. Blood relations are incredibly important to them so they're very serious about parenthood, even though the relationship is not exactly a loving one. Closer to the relationship crocodiles have with their young, they make sure the kids stay safe and alive but that's pretty much about it :p

Interesting. I like how much thought you put into each of your species. I hope to see how they interact with each other in the wider universe that you seem to be creating.

:) Definitely, in the future. Though right now my time is very limited so the progress is slooooow.
