Male Hydra I by K4ll0 Male Hydra I by K4ll0
Yeah the exist. The marking color varies from violet to light blue, otherwise the males and females look pretty much the same. Hydra have excellent color vision, so they recognize individuals from their colors rather than the marking's shape itself.

Purple to light blue, individuals differ both in color and patterns.

Call it still learning my way around deviantART, as I had originally seen the female Hydra back in January and only now found you had more about the Hydra. I love both how similar and different the genders are, very consistent with how you describe them. Great colors with the males darker. Fantastic work overall!

Truly a marvelous species you have designed, here. And a well thought out background.

Would it be too much to ask for a tutorial on the modeling process of one of your works? (concept, modeling, texturing, etc?) I haven't had much luck in creating anything this beautiful.

Thank you!

I don't really do video tutorials and it would take forever to make one big enough in image format. Also my style of creating stuff is kinda inconsistent so my tutorials would be all over the place =p I do have some mini-tutorials in my gallery and I'm planning to make more when I have time.

I love their design. I notice that the species looks mostly feminine in shape, but it's just more awesome that way. :D
I love the difference in the markings, too. I would certainly love to see this species in a game! Infact, I would love to PLAY as one! <3

They'd definitely be playable. I'm sick of scifi games that have only human characters :smoking:

Eeyup.
And Fantasy games that don't let you play as Dragons.
But I would definetely buy your game and play as a Female Hydra! :la:
